What Should You Expect at an Appraisal It is counter to the ethics of the profession to ooh and aah over your quilt--even if it IS gorgeous. So please don’t be put off by a professional and objective demeanor when I am examining your quilt.
I will take at least two pictures of the quilt for my own records to accompany my copy of the appraisal. All information and photographs will be held confidential and not shared with anyone, unless a copy is provided to American Quilters Society when I apply for certification.
Bring any information that you have about the maker or history of the quilt to the appraisal. The information that you bring to an appraisal is important. For example, provenance can add to the value of an antique quilt. Provenance is information about who made the quilt and/or where it was made.
You should leave the appraisal session with a completed and signed appraisal form. The only exception would be if I wanted to do further research on prices. In that case, I will mail you the completed certification within two weeks.
Payment for services is expected at the end of the appraisal and before my signature is affixed to the appraisal form. A receipt will be provided to you with your appraisal.
My fee for a quilt appraisal is $40.
